Had the strangest thing happen today..... went out to put something in the bin and lying on the ground was..... a seahorse ??

Yes, a real one. Dead but about 20-25 cms long. Maybe a seabird dropped it ? I've only ever seen them in aquariums.

Will see if I can get my son to take a photo when he gets home.

Am still rather bewildered by it but had to tell someone.

 Now that is really strange! And a decent sized one as well. Fascinating creatures and yes I've either seen them in aquariums or preserved in formalin solution. Would love to see a pic if you can get it.

Unless its too much trouble,  you could upload it to one of the free image hosting sites and add the link here on forum. You can find the list of hosting sites here

Sea horses are so beautiful animals ! How could it be, to find this one in the bin? Maybe it died in someone's aquarium?

It's an awesome picture, Liana.

No, it wasnt in the bin. It was on my driveway !

I talked to someone from our Dept of Conservation today (because I was curious) and after finding out that they do live in our waters, we came to the conclusion that it must have been dropped by a bird.

I'm sure it must be an omen of some sort so if anyone knows of any folklore about seahorses , I'd love to hear about it.

I was just so puzzling to find it there !!

What an amazing experience !

I'm sure, it's an omen. A good sign for a very good thing will happen next time to you.

I remember, in Greece there were seahorses a creature half horse/half fish. The seagods were riding on it.

Many years ago I was on holidays at the island Malta. There I've seen a house of seahorses, not more than two sorts are living in the Mediterranean Sea. Alltogether there are about 40 sorts known.
